Find 40lb of silverfish at None-Go-Bye

NONE-GO-BY FARM FISHERY, WEST YORKSHIRE

-

THE roach fishing hits its peak at None-Go-Bye Farm at this time of year, and a 40lb netful is a genuine possibility at this popular complex.

Each of the three waters is home to a good head of silvers, but it is the Main Lake that is attracting most of the attention with fish to over 1lb.

Floatfishing is the most effective attack, with a light pole or waggler rig accounting for the most memorable redfin catches.

With the temperatures relatively high, the roach will rise in the water to feed and with this in mind it is best to set up two rigs.

The first should be set up at dead depth with a strung-out shotting pattern to help catch on the drop, while the other is best made up to fish around 2ft deep. Use casters to avoid the attentions of nuisance fish, feeding five or six freebies every 30 seconds.

Rigs need to be well balanced, with local experts recommending a reasonably fine-wire size 18 hook, an 0.12mm hooklink and a doubled No4 elastic. This may sound slightly heavy, but bonus chub to 4lb are very likely to show.
