TRIPLE WHAMMY ON FRENCH MECCA

Graviers gives up its three biggest fish to 91lb 8oz

-

AMIND-BLOWING session on Graviers produced the lake’s three biggest fish – at 70lb, 80lb and 91lb 8oz.

The biggest of the trip, the worldfamous Scarred Fish, tore off the moment the 70-pounder was being photographed.

Both bites came to the rods of Tim Swain, but as he was busy with the seventy, it was left to his brother, Andy, to bring the giant mirror to the net at the French lake.

The 80-pounder, known as the Brown Fish, fell to Nathan Doggrell, who had joined the Swains and their friend Frano Pavey for the week-long getaway to the French venue.

Recalling the surreal moment he was holding a seventy when one of his other rods went off, Tim exclusively told carpfeed.com: “Andy got out of the water and lifted into it while I gave my fish – now known as the Swain Thing – a goodbye kiss and watched Andy play the fish in.

“By now Frano, Nath and (venue boss) Luke Moffatt had joined us in the swim. The fish kited right to the side of the point, then gradually Andy gained line.

“It surfaced for a split second in front of the net and Luke confirmed it was the Scarred Fish. You could have heard a pin drop as Andy played her towards me and the net.

“A huge amount of emotion and a lot of swearing burst out as she slipped over the cord! After all the photos, hugging and celebrating had calmed down Luke came back round for a beer and a chat later that day.

“He confirmed that there had never been a 70lb, 80lb and 90lb capture in the history of Graviers, and that he would name the new seventy the Swain Thing, which was such an honour on such a legendary venue.”
