EYE KETTLEBY LAKES, MELTON MOWBRAY, LEICS

Head to Lake 5 if you fancy a 4lb perch or a double-figure carp, as plenty of both are in here. A maggot feeder fished up to the island will score bites from these fish, however nuisance silvers may intrude. Switch to a worm or whole prawn on the hook to counter this. PRESS MANOR LAKES, MATLOCK, DERBYS

RUSSELL’S POND, COLEORTON, LEICS

This tranquil fishery can produce some excellent silverfish weights of up to 50lb in summer. Roach to 2lb and perch to 3lb respond well to maggot or worm fished tight to the island reeds. SHEPHERDS PORT, DERSINGHAM, NORFOLK

The other four pools are also in top form and will probably leave you spoilt for choice as to which one to fish! The Orfe Pool contains a superb head of silverfish – particularly bream and skimmers – and you can catch 40lb of these by fishing maggot and caster over micros in open water.
