Round one kicked off with a good win for Dave Hiley. The Sensas North man took 25-14-0 of bream and skimmers from peg 22 where he fished groundbait feeder with maggot and worm to get in front of Nicky Crooks. Nicky was on peg 416, where he opted to fish the pole with worm, maggot and hemp to take 22-14-0 of roach and skimmers.

BLUNDELL’S FISHERY ROVER (SAT) East & West Lodges, Ash & Trio Pools (45 pegs)

For once, Alan Howarth didn’t win as Ben Harrison top-scored with 124-14-0 of carp to 5lb plus F1s at peg 23 on the Trio Pool, catching on worm fished in the margins. Alan claimed second at peg 47 on the Ash Pool, taking 121-2-0 of carp to 8lb on pellet at 16m and on the bomb.

DRENNAN MESSINGHAM SANDS TEAMS OF FIVE (FRI) All lakes (70 pegs)

This annual Easter event went to the Messingham A side. They totalled 22 points but only won on superior weight after tying with Scunthorpe Tackle. Top rod was Ken Pacey of the winning side, who took 137-0-0 of carp to 8lb on pellet and corn from peg 53 on the Islands Lake. Steve Ellis caught on paste from peg 13 on the Swan Lake for second with 129-0-0 of carp to double figures. Result: 1 K Pacey, Messingham A, 137-0-0; 2 S Ellis, Scunthorpe, 129-0-0; 3 S Donaghue, Doncaster, 121-0-0. Teams: 1 Messingham A, 22pts (superior weight); 2 Scunthorpe Tackle, 22; 3 Barnsley, 30.

DONCASTER DAA (FRI) Southfield Reservoirs (45 pegs)

Daiwa Dons duo Andy Renton and Paul Wright took first and second on Friday. Andy won from peg 36 with 36-1-0 of bream and skimmers on groundbait feeder and worm or maggot, the same tactics giving Paul 30-6-0 of bream and skimmers on peg 40.

NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS AA SPRING LEAGUE (SUN) Sankey Canal, Upper Pound (30 pegs)

Quality roach and skimmers made up the winning 7-3-8 of Jeff Stirratt, the Liverpool AS rod drawing peg 67 and fishing caster at 12m. Chris Grehan was second with 6-9-0 of roach, perch and skimmers at peg 81 as he fished maggot at 10m. Result: 1 J Stirratt, Liverpool AS, 7-3-8; 2 C Grehan, Warrington, 6-9-0; 3 T Speakman, Lowton, 6-4-8.

NU-FISH SPRING LEAGUE (SUN) Southfield Reservoirs (60 pegs)

Another full house for this latest round saw Leeds rod Dean Jacques take the honours with 56-11-0 of bream and skimmers at peg 1 as he fished standard groundbait feeder and maggot tactics. That put him clear of Steve Walker on peg 8. He also fished feeder and maggot to weigh in 37-9-0 of bream and skimmers. Result: 1 A Renton, Daiwa Dons, 36-1-0; 2 P Wright, Daiwa Dons, 30-6-0; 3 A Gregg, Doncaster, 28-12-0.

OAKS LAKES (SUN) Ash, Beech & Sycamore Lakes (33 pegs)

An all-100lb frame was topped by Andy Barker on peg 12 of Ash Lake where he caught carp to 5lb on maggot and pellet fished at 5m for 138-8-0. Second place went to Dave Parkinson with 136-8-0.

PARTRIDGE LAKES (SUN) Covey Canal Lakes (74 pegs)

It was tight at the top on Sunday as just over 2lb divided first and second. Bob Brander won from peg 73 of Canal 3 with 78-11-0 of carp and F1s taken on corn fished in the margins. Paul Hardman was on peg 98 of Canal 4 and also used corn in the edge plus maggot at 6m for 76-5-0 of carp and F1s.

Garbolino Elton’s John Jones topped Good Friday’s open from peg 42 on Canal 2 with 90-11-0 of carp and F1s. He fished pellet to the far bank at 12m and then caster down the middle at 6m. Gaz Eccles was on peg 21 of Canal 1, where he helped himself to second with 80-7-0.

Dave Geldart topped a big turnout on Saturday with 155-11-0 of carp to 9lb as he fished Method feeder and pellet from peg 13 on Partridge Lake. Second went to Ian Fisk at nearby peg 20 with 128-6-0 of carp taken on pellet fished at 14m, 5m and in the margins.
