FIVE MORE THROUGH TO SHOWPIECE FINALS ...AND HUGE PAYOUTS

Jamie Wilde wins at the Glebe in Golden Reel event

THE big-money qualifiers continue to come thick and fast, with five more anglers winning through to the Fish O’Mania, Golden Reel and Feedermasters finals last week.

They are headed by former Parkdean Masters champion Jamie Wilde, who topped the sellout Golden Reel match at the Glebe Fishery.

South Yorkshire’s Jamie bagged 172-0-0 of carp from peg 106 on Pool 7 of the Leicestershire fishery to make it through to Larford in August. He caught on feeder and in the margins with maggot and pellet.

Rob Henrick ran him close with 166-0-0 from peg 1 on Pool 1.

Twenty four hours earlier, Craig Goldstraw topped the Golden Reel eliminator at Heronbrook Fisheries with a 155-14-0 haul of F1s off peg 26 on the Match Lake. He used pellet at 6m and in the edge.

Feedermasters rolled into Southfield Reservoirs near Doncaster and Marukyu man Dave Berry scored what was to be the first of a big-match win double on the water.

He topped the qualifier with 19-12-0 before he returned the next day to bag the 60-peg Spring League match. Neil Mallinson and James Smith joined him in the final as fellow zone winners.

On the Fish O’ front, two more men made it through to July’s final at Cudmore. Colin Scott took the midweek clash on Partridge Lakes with 85-5-0 of F1s and carp off Pine Pool peg 11, Jason Redgrave winning Saturday’s match at Guru Makins Fishery with 104-8-0 of carp on the pellet waggler from Lake 1.

Biggest cheer of the weekend, though, went without a doubt to 12-year-old Billy Kirk, who won the 100-peg Sensas Kennet & Avon Spring League on the K&A canal with a 17-7-0 net of bream and skimmers from the Farmer’s section. Incredibly, that was his first open win – not a bad one to begin with!
