MANOR FARM LAKE IS A HAVEN FOR SPECIMENS
Not just carp to 30lb-plus, but some stunning tench and bream are on offer here as well
INEAR Fisheries is a regular winner of the Fishery of the
Year accolade in the annual prestigious National Angling Awards.
The Oxfordshire water has once again been in fine form this term, with a number of lakes producing some stunning specimen fish, including carp, tench, roach and bream.
The cream of the crop at the moment has to be the day-ticket pool, Manor Farm Lake.
This 14-acre, feature-rich lake has not just been throwing up big carp to 30lb-plus, but some stunning tench and bream too.
ESP’s Simon Ashton showed its potential last week when he bagged two giant bream weighing 14lb and 13lb 7oz during a 48-hour session on peg 14. Simon also bagged a number of big tench to 9lb 5oz during his visit, fishing maggot feeder or worm to the gravel bar around 60 yards out in front of him.
There are plenty of doublefigure tench in here, a couple of which have already been caught this spring. The best approach for the tench is to spod out some particle mix and then fish the feeder over the top.
As for the carp, it is estimated that the water contains around 700 carp, which includes at least 30 different ‘30s’. During the last couple of years, five different 40lb-plus fish have been landed from the water. The lake records stand at 48lb 13oz for a mirror, 35lb for a ghost carp and 36lb 8oz for a common, all caught recently. Plenty of back-up fish

in excess of 20lb, along with numerous upper doubles are also present.
Some of the best pegs for these fish tend to be 1-5, but the pegs where Simon was fishing, including the shallow bay on pegs 15-16, are also hotspots.
