WHAT an incredible fish Martin Bowler has just caught.
Bearing in mind this is a guy who has banked three British records (and one unofficial one for his 52lb grass carp), his phone call to tip me off he’d had a ‘very special fish’ was like talking to an person discovering the joy of fishing for the first time.
There aren’t many unknown carp around 60lb in size in this country and it highlighted to me that no matter how many years you’ve been fishing for and how many fish you’ve caught, there are still surprises out there.
So when that tip goes round, your float dips, or one of your alarms screams, get ready, it could be the fish of your dreams on the end – that’s the beauty of our wonderful sport.
