SUPER FREAKS SET FOR RECORD GLORY
Fast-growing carp strain being snapped up all over the UK
ASTRAIN of carp tipped to provide the next generation of British record-breakers are being snapped up by clubs and fisheries nationwide.
The fish, known as ‘Super Freaks’ have been created by RH Fisheries boss Rob Hales, and show incredible gowth rates.
Hull & District Anglers’ Association is one of several clubs to buy the hand-picked, selectively grown carp from Rob’s facility in Shropshire – and their fish, stocked at 3lb a year ago, have already tripled in weight.
The club’s fisheries officer Derek Pye, speaking exclusively to Angling Times, said: “In May 2016 we split the fish up and introduced them to three of the society’s waters. The growth rates have been incredible.
“We knew Rob’s fish were quality personified and grew quickly, but we never imagined they’d reach weights like this so soon. It won’t be long before they break 20lb.”
The ‘Super Freak’ strain – highshouldered and deep-bodied – are now in huge demand by fisheries and angling clubs across the country.
“Super Freaks are some of the very best carp you can buy,” said Rob.
“They’re fast growing and have been bred from the very best, well-conditioned female carp from our Monument waters.
“We’ve sold numbers of these to fisheries in Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and as far as Scotland.
“We’ve already taken a lot of orders for these carp for 2019, and to keep up with demand we’re now developing the fish farm to provide more rearing pools.”
