DOUBLE TONS ON THE CARDS

RECOMMENDED ANGEL OF THE NORTH FISHERY, CHESTER-LE-STREET, CO DURHAM

-

NOT many venues in the North-East that can boast 200lb pleasure weights at this time of year, but that’s what visitors here are enjoying.

On Lookout Lake anglers are bagging up on carp and silvers in the margins and off the deck on floatfished pellets.

For the silvers, feed a little chopped worm and fish maggot. Pegs on the central island have been fishing consistently well, with 1 and 11 the flyers. Cast a bomb and pellet to the far bank or the aerators to take carp to 7lb.

If you like to catch bigger fish than Bowes Lake may be a better option for you. Despite this being your typical match venue Bowes, holds bream into double figures.

A small feeder fished just off the island in the deeper water will provide the best chance of catching one or two.

Fishing a waggler with maggots shallow will catch plenty of roach, ide and orfe, as well as the odd bonus carp and crucian.
