A pleasant surprise at the end of the day!
I REALLY like Dom Garnett’s weekly ‘Far Bank’ piece in Angling Times, and I particularly enjoyed his account of ‘lucky-dip’ session at a Goodiford Lake.
I loved his expression ‘bite-filled but never dull’, and that perfectly sums up my angling philosophy.
There’s a lake near to where I live that I visit regularly whenever I want a slice of ‘catch-all’ fishing. You literally never know what the next bite will bring.
Last night was a prime example. With a tin of luncheon meat and the same of sweetcorn, I took a couple of hours after work as it was such a beautiful evening.
First bite came from a 12oz skimmer on sweetcorn, next a crucian, then a 3lb carp that could almost have been a wildie!
Highlight of the evening, though, was a roach just shy of 2lb which took a liking to a small cube on luncheon meat! A pleasant surprise to end the day! Bert Miller, Tavistock
