Bream and hybrids earn Murphy £5,000 cheque

THIS eagerly-awaited festival found the Erne system in patchy form, but events reached a thrilling finale on the final day.

It saw Fermanagh angler Keith Murphy take 36-400 of bream and hybrids on the feeder from the Cleenish Bridge section to catapult himself into first place with a three-day total of 53-890, earning himself the £5,000 winner’s cheque and coveted crystal chalice.

Runner-up, England Feeder Team boss Tommy Pickering also had a good last day to thank for moving him up the rankings as 20-plus kg from the Round O section gave him 41-540 in total and a £2,000 pay day.
