Former pleasure venue is now home to fish over 30lb... and generous stocking levels mean they’re quite easy to catch

-

Greenhalgh Lodge, Lancs

THE demand for specimen carp fishing has risen so much over the last few years that some fisheries are converting their lakes to meet anglers’ needs.

One such venue to follow the trend is Greenhalgh Lodge Fishery near Blackpool, Lancs, whose owners have transformed their 30-peg-plus pleasure venue into a carp angler’s haven with 10 well-spaced swims.

The smaller fish have been netted and removed and 150-200 VS-strain carp have been stocked – including specimens up to the magical 30lb mark. With only 3.1 acres of water to fish, anglers are reporting huge numbers of runs from carp now averaging between 15lb and 20lb – so a new personal best could be on the cards. Here’s Angling Times’ overview of this transformed fishery, which is sure to help keep your alarms sounding throughout your session.
