TWO MORE BIG GUNS IN FISH O’ FINAL SHOOTOUT

Collins and Cooke qualify for showdown at Cudmore

-

IT’S been another non-stop week of qualification for big-money finals.

Match anglers have put in the miles across the UK as they seek a place to fish for big money later this summer – and the Fish O’Mania Final in particular is shaping up to be a belter, with two more big names booking their places!

Young gun Jason Collins will be back at Cudmore after his debut in 2016. The new MAP signing won the qualifier at Coleman’s Cottage in emphatic style by bagging 208-0-0 of big carp and F1s from end peg 1 on Wood Lake, fishing pellet shallow and maggot in the margins to get well clear of the chasing pack led by Pemb Wrighting with 131-0-0.

There will also be a familiar name doing battle in July after Steve Cooke, a former champion back in the 1990s, topped the match at Messingham Sands with another big weight.

The Garbolino-backed old hand weighed in 205-15-0 to just get ahead of Ray King, Steve taking carp on meat fished shallow from Hollywood Lake.

On the Maver Match This front, Simon Skelton topped a big weight affair at The Glebe Fishery with 294-9-0 of carp on pellet shallow and in the edge of peg 23 on Pool 1.

That denied Darren Cox a shot

at the final as he replied with 230-1-0.

Former Match This champ Chris Cameron won the qualifier at Gold Valley 24 hours earlier with 59-6-0 of carp on pellet waggler from Gold Lake.

The Golden Reel Champs has also begun to draw good crowds, and Alex Murray was the winner midweek at The Glebe with another mega weight.

The South West rod weighed in 299-15-0 of carp on pellet from Lake 7, winning by just a pound from Luke Bamford.

Barston Lakes hosted the weekend match, and Francis O’Reilly took the honours with 111-12-0 of carp and F1s on Method feeder tactics at peg 58.

Finally, the Preston Innovations Feedermasters event took in a round at Gold Valley and that saw Marcus Tilley, Micky Howell and Sean Stenton win through by topping their respective zones.

Marcus won the match overall with 59-0-0 of carp on Method feeder and pellet or corn from the Syndicate Lake.
