The venue record went once again as Matt Ruddy bagged 228-4-0 of carp to double figures from peg 49 fishing pellet across at 14.5m and corn in the margins. He finished well in front of Pete Richmond, who took 158-45-0 of carp on pellet across and down the side.

HERONBROOK FISHERIES (SAT) Match, Canal & Meadow Pools (45 pegs)

More than half the field recorded a ton as the lakes hit top form. Damien Bracken won this one with 209-14-0 of big F1s off peg 10 on Meadow Pool, where the Garbolino star used caster shallow at 14m to the far bank. That was enough to put him a couple of fish in front of Andy Christie, who drew peg 6 on the Match Lake and fished meat 14m and in the edge to weigh in 205-14-0 of carp and F1s.

MILL HOUSE FISHERIES (SUN) Mistral Lake (28 pegs)

Fishery boss Andy Molyneux showed his punters how it’s done by winning on Sunday with 93-9-0 of carp to 5lb. He tackled peg 33 with chopped worm and caster at 8m. Phil Henry was on peg 14, where he opted for paste at 6m to take second with 78-10-0 of carp to 8lb.

Result: 1 A Molyneux, Mill House, 93-9-0; 2 P Henry, Lingmere, 78-10-0; 3 A Dewhurst, Lingmere, 63-14-0; 4 C Fletcher, Wirral, 56-0-0.

MIRFIELD AC SATURDAY LEAGUE (SAT) Aire & Calder Canal, Heck (35 pegs)

Warmer weather found the canal in good form and bream made up the leading weights, winner Peter Baron taking 11 fish on groundbait feeder and long pole with worm at peg 25 for 33-11-0. He was followed by Dean Grace on peg 56 with 22-4-0 of bream as he stuck to feeder with worm and maggot all day.

OAKS LAKES (SUN) Ash, Beech & Sycamore Lakes (53 pegs)

The match lakes continue to produce massive weights, and 150lb was needed to make the top six. A huge 248-14-0 won it for venue regular Phil Sellars. The Colmic Woodlands man drew peg 24 on Ash Lake and fished his favourite paste attack at 5m to net carp to 6lb, That left Chris Kendall to settle for second with 240-15-0 of carp on maggot and pellet.

Leigh Tackle & Bait old hand Eddie Battersby topped this midweek olds boys’ match with 173-1-0 of carp and F1s as he fished peg 129 on Canal 5 with paste at 4m to sweep all before him. John Warburton was over on peg 125 of the same lake and was the man to get closest to him with 113-8-0 of F1s on pellet.

ST HELENS AA (SAT) Carr Mill Dam (33 pegs)

Weights were a little low in the heat on Saturday and a modest 17-8-0 won the day for Richard Pennington at peg 54. The local lad worked with groundbait feeder and maggot to net skimmers and hybrids. Darren Garwood was on peg 62 and opted for feeder and worm to take skimmers for second on 16-12-0.

SCUNTHORPE DAA SPRING LEAGUE (SUN) Stainforth & Keadby Canal (31 pegs)

Bream and skimmers made up the leading nets in this latest round, won by Browning Ossett’s Mick Bower with 16-6-0 of fish to 3lb at peg 36. He fished chopped worm and caster on the pole at 14m. Second-placed Mick Storey chose the feeder with worm to take 13-13-0 of skimmers and perch.

WOODLAND LAKES (SAT) Skylark, Kestrel, Curlew & Wagtail Lakes (40 pegs)

Drawing on Wagtail Lake, Terry Whiteside led the way in this well-attended open with 148-10-0 of carp to 7lb as he fished pellet on the deck at 14m and down the side. Dave Geldart claimed second with 143-14-0 of carp. He opted for the Method feeder and pellet and pellet in the margins.

WOODLAND LAKES (WEDS) Partridge & Skylark Lakes (25 pegs)

The lakes hit top form in the midweek heat as Colmic Woodlands man Paul Thompson took a staggering 406-12-0 of carp to 12lb from peg 20 on the Partridge Lake. Pellet shallow at 16m and then down the side saw him finish miles in front of second man home Macauley Pearson. The Maver/Dynamite Baits man drew peg 30 on Skylark Lake where he caught on pellet shallow at 14.5m and 16m for 214-7-0 of carp to 8lb.

Result: 1 P Thompson, Colmic Woodlands, 406-12-0; 2 M Pearson, Maver/Dynamite Baits, 214-7-0; 3 J Roper, Colmic Woodlands, 207-2-0; 4 D Geldart, Leeds, 141-3-0.
