The Specimen Lake produced a big winning weight in Sunday’s qualifier as Chris Senter took 234-3-0 of carp to double figures plus skimmers at peg 12 on the burr bank, where he worked with pellet shallow at 14m and them with meat at 6m.

DAIWA HALLCROFT FISHERY (SUN) Moat Pool (31 pegs)

A tight finish was edged by Andy Whitehouse with 140-3-0. The Scunthorpe angler took carp to 8lb on pellet shallow and on the deck at 14m from peg 56. Sheffield’s Rich Teigh followed with 134-12-0 of carp on pellet shallow at 14m and corn in the margins of peg 10.

Fancied peg 58 on the river bank came good for Francis O’Reilly. The Frenzee/Bag ‘Em Baits qualified with 111-12-0 of carp and F1s on Method feeder and pellet fished on two lines. Matt Snowden followed with 84-14-0 of carp and F1s on Method and bomb with pellet from peg 24 on the same bank.

Guru man Mark Taylor took the honours with a level 125-0-0 of carp to 8lb plus skimmers and tench from peg 4, fishing corn and pellet at 6m and maggot in the margins. Before winning the Match This qualifier at The Glebe, Simon Skelton concentrat­ed his efforts on Rookery and came good with a super 258-14-0 of carp to 5lb. He drew peg 20 and fished maggot shallow at 16m and 14.5m. Steve Freeman on peg 11 went for a margin attack with meat and pellet for 214-11-0 of carp to 7lb for second spot.

The New Pool produced the top two weights in this midweek old boys’ match, peg 1 seeing Paul Foster win with 99-5-0 of carp to 7lb taken on pellet fished at 5m. Dave Kemp took second on peg 29 with 92-7-0 of carp also on pellet.

Siblings B was the pool to be on for this one, peg 9 seeing Ridgemere rod Roger Atkins win with 63-1-0 of F1s and carp taken on a small cage feeder and pellet. Runner-up Bob Calcott opted to fish the pole at 13m with caster from peg 7 to weigh in 54-13-0 of F1s.

TUNNEL BARN FARM VETS (THURS) House, Jenny’s, Top & Bottom Pools (75 pegs)

Two men crashed through the ton barrier in Thursday’s big veterans’ event. Dave Chapman ran out the winner with 128-4-0 of F1s and skimmers at peg 24 on the House Pool, where he fished pellet shallow and on the deck at 6m and then in the edge. Tony McGuire, on peg 6 of the same lake, opted to stay on pellet shallow at 6m all through the match to finish second with 103-2-0 of F1s and carp.

A good set of framing weights was headed by Grant Howie, with 1621-0 of carp, F1s, ide and skimmers off peg 29 on the House Pool. Local knowledge worked in the Tunnel Barn Farm angler’s favour as he fished caster shallow at 5m. Second spot was filled by another venue expert, Adam Randell, with 146-2-0.

WESTWOOD LAKES OVER 50S (THURS) Swallow Lake (24 pegs)

In sweltering heat, the old hands still found plenty of fish feeding and Brian Thompson led the way with a level 64-0-0 of carp to 8lb plus some big skimmers at peg 6. He fished pellet at 14m and in the margins, and Ken Clark needed one big fish to beat him. Ken took 61-0-0 of carp, roach and skimmers at peg 7, fishing pellet at 11m and corn in the margins.
