OBJECT OF DESIRE
RRP: £249.99 www.solartackle.com
LET’S deal with the elephant in the room first… yes, it’s a landing net that costs more than my parents paid for my first car. However, before the haters start hating, this is no ordinary landing net. As with so many of Martin Locke’s previous market-leading incarnations, this is a piece of engineering excellence which not only looks superb but is of the highest quality throughout. So, where does all this quality
manifest itself, you might ask? I’ll start with Solar’s specialist area, stainless steel, the very best version of which is used in the fully machined block complete with the signature Bow-Loc quick-release mechanism. The release of the net is both fast and simple, and the same stainless steel is used on all the other fittings on the Bow-Loc.
The second most prominent feature is the ‘Twist-Loc’ extendable handle, which can be set from 3ft to 6ft, and any length in between. This makes it ideal for bank and boat anglers alike.
The 42ins, deep-mesh net is ample to cope with the biggest carp and the net’s arms, as with the handle, are of carbon construction. The laser-etched butt cap completes the detailed and superblywhich constructed Bow-Loc, also comes with a storage/stink bag and weighs just 750 grams.
You’ll have to make your own minds up as to whether this fabulous piece of kit warrants the price tag.
My view? If you have this kind of disposable income, then why not splash out on what must surely be the best landing net on the market?
