Peg-by-peg guide to Redbridge Lakes and hot swims to fish this week
AFEEDER’S cast from the M11, Redbridge Lakes is a tranquil fishery with more facilities than you can shake a stick at.
Ripping up the notion of the ‘hole in the ground’ fishery, boss Gordon Bullock and his team have developed two wildlifefriendly lakes to give visitors a true taste of the great outdoors.
Carp make up only around three per cent of the overall
stocking, the rest being made up of skimmers, tench, crucians, ide, roach and perch.
The fishing is easy, too, with the beginner guaranteed bites on floatfished maggot under the rod-tip. Every swim has an island to cast to and interesting ‘arms’ that protrude 11m or so out on either side of the peg.
These not only offer another feature to fish to, but also ensure a bit of privacy.
