TWO RYANS PLUNDER QUARRY POOL STOCKS
They share 48 fish, including lake’s top common at 41lb
APAIR of anglers caught a quarter of a lake’s stock in a 48-hour session hailed as the venue’s best-ever.
England international Ryan Need and his mate Ryan Mallon bagged 48 fish between them at Baden Hall’s Quarry Pool.
Need had 10 thirties to 38lb, plus the venue’s biggest common at a spawned-out 41lb.
Mallon managed 17 fish over 20lb including two forties.
Bailiff Roy Russell, speaking later to Carpfeed, said: “There’s about 200 fish in there so they had a quarter of the total stock.
“This was far and away the best session ever on the lake. Ryan Need alone had 31 fish, beating my previous record of 21 fish in 48 hours.
“That’s a phenomenal hit. The conditions were spot-on, but they’re very good anglers.”
Roy, who was on the bank at the time and had three fish to 36lb from swim four, added that the fish had spawned about a month ago and the big females were clearly feeling the need to feed.
The two Ryans fished from pegs five and six at the Staffordshire day-ticket venue.
