With so much kit to carry, Steve Ringer must be fit as a flea!

‘GOOD god!’ were the first words I uttered when I saw Steve Ringer with the mass of kit he takes to the World Championships – I’ve never seen that many feeders before and didn’t even think there were that many in the world, let alone in his tackle room! That, I suppose is why the man has won what he has. Dedication, preparation and leaving no stone unturned.

It’s a far cry from the 1970s when we slung a wicker basket over our shoulders, picked up a rod bag and another holding nets and bait and trudged off across miles of river bank. I think I’d snuff it within a few yards if I had to lug around what Steve does! Clive Hardiman, Wolverhampton
