All-round good egg

HOW good it was to see old Des Taylor on the front of last week’s Angling Times!

The beard may have whitened but there’s no mistaking that grin – I remember as if it were yesterday the first time I saw it. It was in a pub in Bewdley several years ago when a group of us were fishing the Severn and popped in for a jar.

There was Des holding court about all things fishing, and he took time out to chat with us and put us on a few swims to catch some chub. We had a good few days as a result and it’s no surprise he’s so highly thought of as a guide on the river. Here’s to many more barbel, mate, and hopefully a few more front covers!
