Kinder on top at Barston Festival

Points tie after three days, wins on weight

-

GURU BARSTON LAKES FESTIVAL (WEDS – FRI) Main Lake (55 pegs)

THIS three-day event drew some big names, including several anglers from the Netherlands, but it was South Yorkshire star Andy Kinder who triumphed with a perfect three-point section score.

That was the same as runnerup Darren Cox, but Andy had the better weight.

Day one saw the Maver man on peg 35 of the river bank, where he fished Method feeder

and pellet to the island and in open water to take 86-0-0 of carp and skimmers for a section win.

Day two gave him peg 61 on the same bank, which had won the match the day before. Andy fished Method feeder and pellet and then maggot in the margins to take some big carp and plunder a superb 220-0-0 for another section maximum.

Peg 99 awaited on day three on the golf course bank, where Method feeder long and short and a short pole line gave him a mix of skimmers and F1s to weigh in 81-0-0 and just nick the section win.

Result: 1 A Kinder, Maver/Marukyu, 3pts (superior weight); 2 D Cox, Garbolino, 3; 3 S Ringer, Daiwa/Guru, 4; 4 J Collison, Dersingham AC, 5 (superior weight); 5 C Barley, Dynamite Baits, 5; 6 J Brooks, Middy, 6.
