A mixed bag of chub, roach and dace secured the honours for Mirfield’s Steve Raper as he drew the Pear Tree section and fished waggler and maggot to weigh in 19-0-0. Craig Turbitt, of Calder 8, was second with 13-12-0 of roach and chub, also on waggler and maggot, from the Ship Inn Weir.

HAPPY LEAGUE (SUN) New Junction Canal, Sykehouse-Kirkhouse Green (72 pegs)

Browning Ossett and Normanton still lead their respective leagues after this latest round, although neither won on the day. Daiwa Dons took division one and Tri-Cast Calder division two with 59 and 39 points respective­ly. Top rod was Daiwa Dons’ Ian Exley with 6-550 of bream and roach taken on a combinatio­n of groundbait feeder and worm and maggot at 13m. The same tactics saw Trevor Banks on Mosella Selby take second with 5-750 of bream and roach.

HERONBROOK FISHERIES MAM QUALIFIER (SAT) Meadow, Canal, Bridge & Match Lakes (74 pegs)

This big qualifier was topped by Garbolino/Bait-Tech man Paul Carnwell with 249-9-0 of carp and F1s off peg 6 on Meadow Pool as he caught on pellet across to the far bank at 14m. Phil Ashdown, second, caught 249-1-0 of carp taken on pellet shallow at 14.5m from peg 6 on Match Lake.

LAUREN PILKINGTON-SMITH MEMORIAL (SAT) Bridgewate­r Canal (60 pegs)

Over £250 was raised for the Leigh Juniors team in this annual event. A brace of tench won the day for Mersey Dockers man Dave Nicholl. He fished lobworm at 11m to take 8-8-0. Match co-organiser Danny Martin, second, had 6-9-0 of roach and skimmers on hemp at 13m.

NORTHERN SUPERLEAGU­E (SUN) River Tees, Yarm (54 pegs)

Although they didn’t feature in the top four overall, Maver NE still lead the league with 180 points from Colmic Woodlands on 173. Woodlands won the day with 52 points. Top rod was Mosella Quaker’s Mal Dunlop on 19-8-0 of small skimmers to groundbait feeder with maggot and worm at peg 25.

OMAR HOMES GARBOLINO LINDHOLME LAKES SUMMER FESTIVAL (MON-FRI) Garbolino Lindholme Lakes (74 pegs)

This festival continues to grow year on year with great backing from Omar Homes. This year’s event attracted plenty of big

names but it was Berkshire-based Guru/ABC Baits man Paul Holland who emerged victorious, scoring a perfect five section wins to finish with an unbeatable four points. Paul kicked off with a massive 318-0-0 of F1s on pellet shallow from the Benny’s Lake, followed by 144-0-0 off Beeches, 164-0-0 from Willows and 191-0-0 on the Bonsai Lake. That left the final day on the Loco Lake and he made it the maximum with a mammoth 208-0-0 of carp and F1s on pellet shallow to leave the rest fishing for second. That place was filled by Maver’s Dale Shepherd who scored five points, third going to Garbolinob­acked on-site coach Alex Dockerty with six points.

Paul Holland was worthy winner with 128-1-0 of carp and F1s. The Guru/ABC Baits man drew peg 57 on Canal 3 and caught on pellet at 12m across to the mudline. Second was Steve Openshaw with 114-10-0 of carp, F1s and ide. He fished caster at 13m to the bridge from peg 44 on Canal 2.

Shallow tactics ruled the day as Penketh & Old Hall AS man David Newton won with 110-7-0 of carp, F1s and ide from peg 75 on Canal 4. He worked with caster up in the water at 6m.

Saturday’s match served as a warm up for the Feedermast­ers Superleagu­e and southern raiders took the top two places. England Feeder team man Will Freeman won with 25-4-0 as the Preston Innovation­s man drew peg 6. He fished groundbait feeder with maggot and worm to land bream and skimmers. Old hand Geoff Ringer followed with 24-7-0 of bream and skimmers on Method feeder and maggot from peg 43.
