DRENNAN and Dynamite Baits-backed Paul Elt was fishing a local stillwater for bream when he spotted some pike feeding around a weedbed.

A change to a Drennan wire trace and size 4 single hook with a roach hookbait soon resulted in this 21lb 4oz predator.

TOP TIP: “If you pike fish at this time of year, ensure you use robust tackle. And remember, fish safety is paramount.”

DAY-ticket River Trent hotspot Kelham Hall produced a fine haul of barbel for Darren Bird, topped by this 15lb 2oz specimen.

The Nottingham angler netted no fewer than eight barbel and four chub during a 24-hour session at the Newark-on-Trent venue, fishing a 15mm Monster Baits and Dips Supreme boilie on a 5oz feeder rig.

TOP TIP: “Keep changing the weight of your feeder or lead until it just manages to hold bottom in the flow.” BLEAK are often seen as nuisance fish, but Graham Mann had one to thank for this 15lb 15oz zander. He latched into his new pb on the River Severn at Worcester, presenting the deadbait close to the

bank for that all-important bite.

TOP TIP: “Pike and zander love deadbaits, and if bleak live in your river there’s a good chance they’ll be eaten. Catch a supply before you start fishing!” BECKY Neve landed this 19lb common carp using just a 3lb hooklink and a size 16 hook.

She’d never landed a fish over 1lb until she visited NMG Fisheries in Hants, where the carp took a maggot hookbait intended for silver fish. It took the Surrey angler 15 minutes to beat her first-ever carp into the net.

TOP TIP: “If you hook a big fish on light tackle, make sure your clutch is set correctly to avoid a breakage.” LEGENDARY former England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman loves his fishing, especially on running water.

He’s one in a long line of famous footballers who use the sport to relax.

This specimen barbel topped the scales at 13lb 2oz and was caught during a recent session on the River Kennet.

TOP TIP: “I used a Hinders Plum boilie – they’re great for catching big barbel.”
