LAKEVIEW FISHERY
MELTONMOWBRAY, LEICESTERSHIRE
A RIVER & STREAM
These two pools have similar stocking regimes and are great match waters which can also be pleasure fished. They are full of F1 hybrids and carp, and these fish tend to be caught shallow down the track or across at 11m. The hotspots are the end pegs 1 and 10 or 11 and 20 on both pools.
B POOL
A private lake run by Asfordby & Melton Society of Anglers. This is a traditional lake containing lots of silver fish and skimmers.
C HARBOUR
Closed until 2018 but full of barbel and F1s, this will be a great venue for fishing short on the pole.
D CANAL
The most prolific lake on the complex, Canal has 30 pegs where nets have recently been exceeding 100lb. It’s mainly carp and F1s in the 1lb-4lb bracket, which can be caught by fishing down the edge with dead maggots or at 12m across to the island.
E SERPENT
Lakeview’s top pleasure fishing venue, Serpent (a snake lake with a central island) holds lots of skimmers as well as carp and F1s, with the odd bigger carp. Barbel have recently been stocked. Peg 10 is the hotspot. F
F LAGOON
This lake is full of F1s, and a 100lb net is achievable by just pinging pellets and fishing a hard pellet over the top on the float.
G BROOK
On this, the kids’ pool, lots of bites can be had from the skimmers and small F1s. The eight-peg lake has recently had new platforms built and has incorporated the small stock pond next door to form a horseshoe.
H REEF
Lots of bigger fish lurk in this pool, including bream to 5lb and carp
