Paste over hemp and pellet at 13m from peg 49 gave Sean Bargh victory as he landed carp to 12lb for 223-2-0 at the scales, miles in front of Steve Clark on peg 6 who used pellet at 5m and in the margins for 159-12-0 of carp.

A few skimmers showed on Saturday and Nick Larkin found them at peg 104 to win with 20-6-0 of fish to 2lb. The Nisa Feeders boss fished groundbait feeder with worm and maggot. Matrix Image man Steve Clark was next on peg 51 with a solid 19-8-0 of roach on maggot, caster and groundbait at 13m.

Pellet feeder swung it for Derek Hartshorn as the Swan Baits man drew peg 2 and cast to the island to plunder 56-5-0 of F1s and carp. John McGann, second with 44-5-0 at peg 33, opted for the Method feeder with pellet to the island to net carp to 5lb.

This penultimat­e qualifier saw three more men go through to the final. Winner Ian Davies and runner-up Shane Hodgkinson were joined by fellow zone winner Darren Hanley. Ian drew peg 22 and fished groundbait feeder with worm and maggot to weigh in 22-11-0 of skimmers and hybrids. Shane on peg 55 used the same approach to take 20-1-8 of skimmers and hybrids.

STARLETS PACKINGTON SOMERS VETS (TUES) Little Geary’s, Geary’s Level & Siblings Pools (50 pegs)

Drawing peg 7 on Little Geary’s Pool, Dave Smith led them home in this well-attended match with 80-7-0 of F1s to 3lb, all taken on the pellet feeder cast to the island, Mick Gibbs took second from peg 13 over on Geary’s Level Pool, where he worked with chopped worm and caster at 13m to take a fine 60-12-0 of skimmers to 2lb.
