BARBEL BATTLE ON THE WYE

ANTO Roberts’ strongest-ever fight from a River Wye barbel came from this 10lb 9oz specimen during a recent session.

The angler from Monmouth fished his home stretch of the waterway and prebaited with 3FootTwitch Dubby boilies to help draw a response.

He told Angling Times: “Although the season has been hard this year I’ve been lucky to catch my second double-figure barbel, a fish of 10lb 9oz.

“It proved to be the toughest battle I have ever had with a Wye barbel.”

TOP TIP: “When prebaiting with boilies don’t introduce too many, as this will inevitably overfeed

the fish. Between 15 and 30 boilies should be more than enough to do the job.”
