STILLWATERS

-

BURY HILL FISHERY, DORKING, SURREY

The predator season is now open at Bury Hill and there are plenty of pike, perch and zander to be had on the Old Lake. In past years, zander to double figures have been caught from the pegs in front of the boathouse on legered sections of hair-rigged roach. There’s no need to use treble hooks, because a size 6 or 8 barbless will suffice. Contact: 01306 883621 Postcode: RH4 3JU

GLOUCESTER PARK, BASILDON, ESSEX

The Canal Stretch is fishing well at the moment, with anglers reporting bags to 30lb-plus of carp, tench and bream. Cast a waggler into the track where you can find around 6ft of water. Alternate between pellets and corn on the hook, and catapult in loose offerings of corn to be in with a chance. Contact: 01268 282377 Postcode: SS14 3DE

IVY HOUSE LAKES, CHIPPENHAM, WILTS

The match lakes are still fishing their socks off, with numerous anglers catching between 80lb and 120lb of proper carp and skimmers. Fish pellet over micros and maggot at 8m, then come down the edge later on with corn or a 6mm pellet. Contact: 07977 093170 Postcode: SN15 4JU

ORCHARD PLACE FARM, PADDOCK WOOD, KENT

Lake Five is arguably one of the best autumn bagging waters in the land, with 100lb nets of F1s within reach. Pellet on the pole is the best way to get bites, rotating between short and long lines and feeding micros and 4mm pellets to keep the shoals interested. Contact: 07860 608218 Postcode: TN12 6NY

RIB VALLEY LAKES, WARE, HERTS

The carp sport has slowed on Rib Lake, although fish to 25lb are still being taken on the usual Cell, hybrid or krill boilies. The pike season is now open, however, and predators to over 20lb are available. As the weed starts to die off and the temperature falls, the resident big roach and perch will start to respond to pole or feederfished worm and red maggot. ROYAL BERKSHIRE FISHERY, WINDSOR, BERKS

If the carp won’t play ball, then the roach certainly will. Maggot, caster and even pellet on the hook will provide action with roach to over 1lb on all the lakes on this complex. Feed little and often with a catapult, alternating the depth regularly to keep in touch with the biggest redfins in your swim. Contact: 01344 891101 Postcode: SL4 4TE
