STILLWATERS

-

BULLOCK FARM FISHERIES, KINGSTON SEYMOUR, SOMERSET

In the South Pool specimen bream to 5lb are continuing to show. They are being caught on bread rather than corn at the moment but take a mixture of other baits including casters, maggots, worm and even prawns for insurance. Contact: 01934 835020, Postcode: BS21 6XA

COLEMAN’S COTTAGE FISHERY, WITHAM, ESSEX

Excellent mixed nets are coming out of the Wood Lake. Most visitors who have done well recently have been opting to fish the pellet, both as feed and on the hook, with carp averaging around 4lb as well as F1s and barbel to 5lb the main quarry. Don’t ignore the margins as the barbel will still venture here even when the water temperature drops. Contact: 01376 516383 or 07710 609597 Postcode: CM8 3EX

MONK LAKES, MARDEN, KENT

The stillwaters are still fishing very well for a mixed variety of species, although the under-fished River Beult is currently producing some very good pike on deadbaits and lures. Fish to 20lb are a possibility when targeting areas of slack water. Lures will usually catch pike from all stretches of the river. Contact: 01622 833332 Postcode: TN12 9BS

RIB VALLEY LAKES, WARE, HERTS

The early pegs on the Westmill Lake are fishing well for carp to 2lb although the island pegs are also producing. The Method feeder and pellet fished tight to the far bank or pole-fished maggot over micro pellet are the best tactics. There’s plenty of silver fish close in to caster and maggot as well. RIDGEWAY FISHERIES, SOUTH CERNEY, GLOUCS

The four interlinking canal pools, known as Walters Lake are where all the action is taking place with 30lb50lb nets featuring. It’s all about the carp here. These can be caught from anywhere in your peg, so it’s worth feeding multiple lines. Contact: 01285 860412 Postcode: GL7 5UQ

THORPE LEA FISHERY, EGHAM, SURREY

The lake is fishing well and plenty of doublefigure carp and specimens up to 25lb are showing. Minimalist baiting regimes are working well in-conjunction with small yellow or white pop-ups, but bottom baits have also bagged fish.
