ANGLING TRUST AVON VALLEY WINTER LEAGUE PRACTICE (SUN) Basingstok­e Canal, Chequers-Fox & Hounds (45 pegs) Richard Hicks took this practice event easily, as the Tubertini South man weighed in the only doublefigu­re net of the day. He took 11-11-0 of roach, plus a rogue perch, on breadpunch fished at 11m from his peg near Malthouse Bridge. Drennan Bordon’s Anthony Flint was second with 8-5-0 of roach and skimmers, again on punch fished at 12m.

ANGLING TRUST OXFORDSHIR­E WINTER LEAGUE PRACTICE (SUN) River Thames, Medley (40 pegs) This warm-up for the next round of the winter league saw a low and clear river with a fair bit of pike trouble! Winner Gary Pook, of Daiwa Dorking, drew the rarelyused Channel section, weighing in 19-2-0 of roach and perch using maggot over groundbait. Runner-up Carl Eland was at the

bottom end of Medley, where he took roach on caster at 13m and perch to 2lb on chopped worm for 18-12-0, although marauding pike cost him the chance of victory.

ANGLING TRUST SOUTH WEST WINTER LEAGUE (SUN) Bristol Avon (40 pegs) Mosella Bathampton took over at the top of the table following this second round as they scored 31 points to win from Sensas Nomads on 28, a result that sees Bathampton a point clear of Thatchers overall. Bathampton also had the individual winner, as Warren Bates found roach, plus a bonus 6lb bream, on maggot and worm fished over groundbait at 14m to weigh in 13-11-0. Paul Elmes, of Sensas Nomads, finished second with 12-7-0.

BAIT-TECH VIADUCT FISHERY (THURS) Campbell & Cary Lakes (27 pegs) Thursday’s open saw Phil Hardwick top the shop with 134-9-0 as the Burt Baits man drew peg 130 on the Campbell Lake. Bomb and pellet and meat in the margins produced carp to 9lb and skimmers to leave him over 20lb clear of Mace Graham in second with 113-14-0 from peg 125 on the same lake.

GOLD VALLEY LAKES TEAMS OF FOUR (SAT) Middle & Syndicate Lakes (40 pegs) Daiwa Dorking drew first blood in this series as they scored 38 points to win easily from Guildford Bait-Tech on 31. Top rod was Browning’s Geoff Ball with 159-2-0 of carp to 10lb taken on Method feeder and pellet and pellet down the edge of peg 110 on the Syndicate Lake. Runner-up Zac Brown, of the day’s winners, took 135-0-0 of carp on the tip with pellet from peg 121, also on Syndicate.

MAVER FESTIVAL (MON-FRI) DEBUT White Acres Holiday Park (180 pegs) DELIGHT Mosella Quaker man Robbie Harbour scored his debut White Acres win by taking the Maver event with a perfect 36-point four-section wins score. Second was Andy Power with 35 points and a better total weight than third-placed Steve Hutter. Robbie scored a lake win and two seconds across the week to add to the money he picked up for winning. It began with 172-0-0 and a section and lake win at peg 16 on Twin Oaks Lake. Tuesday saw one to forget as he took sixth in section from Porth Reservoir, before he got back into gear with 172-0-0 and a section win and lake second off Bolingey peg 28. There was a repeat performanc­e on Thursday with a second on lake and section maximum on Pollawyn Lake, with 43-0-0, all rounded off with that important final day section win thanks to 49-0-0 from peg 15 on the Jenny’s Lake.

OCKENDON BAIT & TACKLE (SUN) Puddledock Farm, Snake Lake (37 pegs) Guru’s Bill Reynolds had an easy

win with 161-8-0 from peg 98 – over 40lb in front of runner-up Ross Harold. Bill fished meat in the edge for carp to 9lb. Matrix man Ross, on peg 11, began on pellet across at 14m, then changed to maggot and groundbait in the edge for 119-4-0 of carp to 7lb.

SENSAS M5 SOMERSET AUTUMN LEAGUE (SUN) King’s Sedgemoor Drain (44 pegs) It was back to King’s Sedgemoor Drain for this latest round, topped by Sensas 88 Gold with 37 points from Chard B on 31, which now sees Somerset Angling leading by only three points overall from the 88 lads. Sensas 88 also provided the individual winner as Brian Slipper won another round. He weighed in 10-680 of roach and skimmers using caster over groundbait at 14m from peg 21. Second was Nicky Collins, of Sensas M5 Angling, with 8-950 of roach and skimmers on maggot and caster at next-door peg 20. Result: 1 B Slipper, Sensas 88 Gold, 10-680; 2 N Collins, Sensas M5 Angling, 8-950; 3 A Dunn, Chard A, 8-640; 4 T Goodland, Somerset Angling, 8-500.
