15lb Trent barbel ends long wait for a new best

A YEAR-long wait to improve on his personal best ended in fine style for Paul Hamshaw when he slipped the net under this 15lb barbel.

The fish broke the Rotherham angler’s previous best for the species by a clear 3lb, and was taken from a tidal stretch of the River Trent in Nottinghamshire.

Paul tempted the specimen using an Angling Dynamics Hot Liver Rami boilie fished on a straight lead with a PVA bag of pellets.
