BLUEBELL’S FIFTH FIFTY OF THE YEAR!

55lb 2oz Z Fish caught as storm brews

-

ADAY-ticket complex produced its fifth different fifty of the year as Storm Ophelia rolled in.

Carl Beresford banked the elusive Z Fish from Swan Lake on the Bluebell site at a mighty 55lb 2oz. It’s the 12-acre lake’s fourth current 50-pounder, alongside the 50lb-plus common in neighbouring Kingfisher Lake.

The four other fifties caught from Bluebell Lakes in 2017 are the Lucas Common (Kingfisher Lake), and Dave, the Box Common and the Perfect Common (all from Swan Lake).

Cheshire angler Carl saw fish showing close in during his week-long stay at the openaccess Northamptonshire venue and took full advantage.

The 43-year-old said: “When Storm Ophelia arrived I noticed a few fish started showing 20yds in front of my swim, so I reeled one of my rods in and attached a small PVA bag of Manilla pellets and crushed Manilla boilies and flicked it out over the spot where I had seen the fish show.

“Two hours later I had a 28lb mirror, then I lost one close in.

“Then, after flicking the rod back on the area, it ripped off and I couldn’t believe the power of the fish.

“About 15 minutes later I landed the fish of my dreams, the Z Fish.

“This is the biggest weight it has ever been out at and smashed my pb by 8lb.”
