Local match angler Graham Skirrey Tackle: “In summer this peg is incredible for carp on the bomb and feeder but now you can catch 50lb bags of skimmers, roach and ide. With this in mind I opted for the pole with a 4x12 float, 0.12mm mainline straight through to a fine wire size 18 hook and a strung-out shotting pattern.” Bait: “Bait selection was simple – a pint of red maggots, a pint of deads and a dark, fishmeal groundbait loaded with dead maggots. By fishing this way bites were really positive and I could catch a host of species in my peg.” Tactics: “I fished 12m to hand in around 6ft of water on the deck, only moving from this line when bites tailed off. I cupped in loose groundbait and dead maggots to start, topping up when bites dried up. Using a Cad pot I introduced maggots and groundbait on each putin too.
