BAITING his swim with no more than 30 loose boilies was all Ian Potts needed to do to break his personal best with the capture of this 15lb 7oz barbel.

Fishing a tidal stretch of the River Trent, the Macclesfield angler tempted the specimen using an Angling Dynamics boilie fished in conjunction with a PVA bag of boilies. His tackle consisted of GW Rig Solutions lead clip and size 8 XBSS hook, 25lb braided hooklink and a 6oz lead.

TOP TIP: “Attach your PVA bag to your lead clip so it doesn’t roll off down the swim before dissolving.”
