THE grin­ner knot is the best way of at­tach­ing line to eyed hooks, swivels or beads, as in the feeder rig above. Here’s how to tie it…

1 Thread your line through the eye of the bead, hook or swivel and form a loop.

2 Pass the end of your line through the loop like this.

3 Con­tinue pass­ing the line through the loop, five or six times.

4 Pull the tag end to tighten the knot, en­sur­ing the coils are neat.

5 Mois­ten and pull on the main­line so the knot sits snugly against the eye. Trim the tag end.
