I men­tioned this ear­lier, but it pays to al­ways have a lead about and not just rely on the ‘known spots’. Weedbeds are dy­ing and float­ing up to the sur­face all the time in the au­tumn, and in do­ing so they leave a big bed of nat­u­ral food that the carp strug­gled to get to ear­lier in the year. So if I find a clear spot in an area that used to be very weedy, I’ll al­ways give it a go. You should too!
