ROACH WIN ON A PATCHY THAMES HIT BY THE COLD

AN­GLING TRUST OX­FORD­SHIRE WIN­TER LEAGUE (SUN) River Thames, Sand­ford & Abing­don (48 pegs)

The River Thames was still run­ning low and clear, and with a near-frost the night be­fore, some sec­tions were very hard. As a re­sult, all four lead­ing weights came from one sec­tion at Abing­don.

Dren­nan Oxford Blue’s Tom Hobbs won with 28-5-0 of roach off the end peg, where he fished mag­got over ground­bait and caster at 13m,

Sen­sas Read­ing’s Liam Page-Smith took sec­ond from the next peg with 24-1-0 of roach plus a big bonus perch on mag­got over ground­bait on the long pole.

Sen­sas Read­ing won the day with 37 points, but over­all, Dren­nan Oxford Blue hold on to the lead by a point from their Aqua coun­ter­parts.
