Peg-by-peg guide to Plantation Lakes and hot swims to fish this week

-

THE weather might be cooling down but the sport is still white-hot at Plantations Lakes, with anglers putting together ton-plus weights.

Some of the best action is taking place on the Somerset fishery’s Main Lake, where nets to 140lb have been recorded in the past week.

This pool is full of carp to 18lb but averaging 4lb-6lb, as well as silver fish. There are two fish-holding islands on this lake and these can be reached on the waggler or feeder. Most anglers are catching on the pole, though, and this can be done in the margins or further out with larger pellets.

If you prefer more bites and silver fish, Horseshoe Lake may be better for you. This is full of F1s , skimmers and roach, and responds well to pole fishing, where you can reach features such as the small islands.

The fishery also has a specimen carp pool offering fish to 29lb. This is best fished with stealthy specimen carp tactics, using boilies on the hair. Prices: Adults £8 for rod, £10 two, concessions £7 and £9 Contact: 01934 832325 or 07990 543600, www.plantationlakes.co.uk Location: Plantations Lakes, Middle Lane, Kingston Seymour,
