Choose from two top pools
Intimate fishery offers sport with carp large and small
WITH two pools, one offering big carp and the other offering mixed bags of fish, Whetstone Gorse is a great choice for pleasure anglers.
Tucked away amid the peaceful rolling hills of the Leicestershire countryside, the fishery is large enough to accommodate plenty of anglers but intimate enough to make for a pleasurable experience.
The mixed lake is oval in shape with a central island running down the middle at around 30m out.
The carp average 5lb here, with plenty of doubles and barbel and silverfish to add variety. It’s a great pole or light feeder/bomb water where bags to 100lb can be taken.
As for the Carp Lake, fish to 15lb lurk in its depths but the main run of fish is 3lb-7lb.
This lake also has a central island which tends to hold fish. A ‘no boilies’ rule means pellets are one of the top baits here but it might be worth trying something different too. This is a great pool for enjoying plenty of action.
