MIGHTY SPANISH CATFISH

Mick Brackley’s latest trip to the River Ebro in Spain proved a success after he latched into this 168lb catfish.

The 8ft-long specimen was one of a dozen catfish caught between Mick and seven of his friends during four days of fishing on the Ebro – which also produced seven carp to 48lb 8oz.

Mick landed the large cat on a Fox Ebro 4.5lb test curve rod with 130lb braid and a stringer hookbait consisting of three 22mm halibut pellets.

TOP TIP: “UK catfish are now on the feed in preparation for winter. Look for deep holes on your local stillwater as this is often where the catfish will be hiding in cold conditions.”
