STILLWATERS

-

ALDIN GRANGE FARM, BEARPARK, CO DURHAM The carp fishing has slowed down a bit although the silver fish sport has been impressive. A angler fishing Woodpecker Lake took a 50lb bag of ide on maggots, with individual fish to 2lb 5oz. There are also catfish to be had on the venue’s Last Blast Lake. Deadbaits are allowed here, and the smellier they are the better. Try puncturing half-a-mackerel for the pike. Maggot and corn fished down the track and up to the island will take F1s and small carp as well as barbel, tench and ide. Contact: 01204 307197 Postcode: BL2 4JW CROFT FISHERIES, CHORLEY, LANCS The carp are still showing alongside the silver fish and some impressive mixed bags can be taken if you can get the feeding right. Fish corn over three initial balls of groundbait, then feed around five kernels of corn each put-in to keep the fish interested. Lures fished in different areas from a boat will find a lot of pike around the double figure mark, but static baits are taking the heavier fish. Contact: 01539 436541 Postcode: LA22 0QF FLEETS DAM FISHERY, BARNSLEY, S YORKS The roach and bream sport is worth trying here, and you can catch both species in good numbers on feeder and pole tactics. Expanders fished over micros at 11m is a firm favourite, although you can’t beat a traditional cage feeder approach with worm, maggots or corn on the hook. Contact: 01226 292579 Postcode: S71 1RD LODGE FARM FISHERY, DONCASTER, S YORKS The deep water on the Signal Pond is worth targeting for all species here, but you can expect more silver fish such as ide and bream to show. You’ll find around 9ft of water just a few rodlengths out, and a small feeder fished here loaded with dampened micros and maggots on the hook will bring you plenty of bites. Switch to worm or corn for the carp. Contact: 01405 860764 Postcode: DN14 0EY
