In matches, nets of carp nudging the 200lb mark have been falling to 8mm pellets fished just short of the island. Peg 6 has been a flyer and should not be ignored if it’s free on the day. This lake has 31 pegs to choose from, but follow the wind for the best results. Scaled-down rigs and floats are a must for these shy-biting roach, rudd, bream, orfe and perch. Fish a 4mm expander pellet on the hook and feed micros and maggots to land 30lb bags. Target them by loosefeeding casters in open water.
