LAWN Farm is a contender for the Midlands’ most prolific silverfish complex.
When carp switch off at the Cambridgeshire venue you are still guaranteed a fantastic day with 50lb-plus catches of roach, skimmers, chub and barbel there for the taking.
Four well-stocked lakes have been constructed, and each one of them offers a silver fish challenge.
The intimate Cherry Tree and Crab Tree Lakes are home to huge numbers of roach, and fish to almost 2lb feature heavily. Use casters on the short pole, on or off the deck, to pick out the better samples.
Willow Lake is much deeper in parts, going down to 12ft, and it is anyone’s guess what you’ll catch here. A maggot feeder to the islands could produce chub to over 4lb, while the long pole with pellet over groundbait is a good bet for a 40lb haul of skimmers.
Last but not least, Honeysuckle Lake is home to a good head of skimmers that can be taken on pellet presented down the track. It’s also the place to be for a bumper net of carp, as near200lb nets have been falling in matches to paste fished down the edge and short at 5m.
