FeederMaster!
FeederMasters final triumph one of my best achievements, says England international Cox
Deadly tricks which claimed £12,000 for match ace Darren Cox
Darren Cox – Preston Innovations FeederMasters champion, 67-5-0, Bough Beech Reservoir, September
ENGLAND international Darren Cox has won plenty of big events in his career but this two-day feeder-only final and the £12,000 that went with it has to rank highly on that list!
Being decided on total weight meant that a bad opening day could be made better by a mega performance on day two, but Darren put himself in the hunt with 27-13-0 on the first day before adding 39-8-0 on the Sunday to finish clear of Steve Ringer.
“To win this event is tremendous,” said Garbolino UK boss Darren. “It’s grown to become one of the events to fish Darren at full stretch for a decent bream. and against such a strong field, it’s one of my best achievements.
“Bough Beech holds a lot of bream, but roach and small bream proved equally important in the opening stages of each match. On both days I felt my way into the pegs with minimal feed, stepping it up when bream and bigger skimmers moved into the peg.”
Darren kicked off with a Garbolino Distance cage feeder to put in chopped worm, casters, dead maggot and dead pinkies, catching on double floating red maggot. On day two he changed quickly to a window feeder to offer more feed as it soon became apparent that the venue was fishing well.
