Now under new ownership, this fishery is one to watch in the future! The Reservoir lake is producing plenty of roach to feeder tactics, with maggots in the deeper water proving the most effective. Lots of carp are also coming out of this lake, where pink pop-ups are producing up to 10 fish a day into double figures. Recent silver fish stockings on Black Lake have led to good fishing, considering the wintry conditions, with 30lb-plus bags of bream and roach falling to pole tactics. Most bites are won with maggot, with corn and pellet also scoring on the odd occasion. As for pegs, it’s advisable to fish on the back of the wind at this time of year. Big Hayes has just received a stocking of 27 pike over 10lb to complement the existing fish over 25lb – this is certainly one for the predator fanatics. Simple deadbait tactics have been working – in clear conditions try fishing lures. There’s plenty going on here. The New Match Lake has seen 70lb-80lb bags of carp to pole fished pellet, while the Pleasure Lake has continued its famous perch form, producing fish to over 4lb. Legered prawns over maggot loosefeed to draw in small prey fish is the deadliest method for these stripeys. The Specimen Lake has produced carp over 30lb, mainly to 10mm pop-ups over boilies. Carp are showing well on Lodge Lake, with anglers bagging up to 20 fish to 23lb. Sticky Manilla boilies are doing the damage. Perch to 5lb are to be found in this lake. Winter match results have been good considering the weather. Last week peg 11 on Woodpecker had the biggest weight with 78lb 15oz, while pegs 16 and 7 on Oak Lake produced bags of 46lb and 61lb.
