Black Cat team member Benjamin Gründer enjoyed the most dramatic big-fish fight of his life when he banked this estimated 286lb catfish from Italy’s River Po.
Benjamin had spotted the giant on his fish finder several times before he finally hooked it on a popped-up crucian livebait.
The fight was going to plan until disaster struck after 25 minutes, when the monster cat snagged itself in a sunken tree.
Determined not to lose it, Benjamin and boat partner Marcus Brock managed to winch the tree to the surface using the boat’s anchor – where they managed to cut the line and re-attach it to the rod to continue playing the fish.
