Pop-ups at range do the damage

A THREE-night session on a Hampshire club water gave Matthew Lockett an incredible haul, including three thirties and a forty.

Fishing at Northfield Lake on the Ringwood & District AA ticket, Matthew caught a mirror of 40lb 15oz, plus others of 32lb 6oz, 31lb 4oz and 30lb 4oz.

He also had two upper doubles and four twenties to 29lb 12oz.

“I fished an area called Three Up where I had done well in the past, and I felt the fish were holding up there,” said Matthew.

Having identified a spot at range, he mixed crushed CC Moore Live System boilies with the matching bag mix and maggots.

“I simply introduced 10 Spombs

at the beginning and more when I felt necessary, like after a fish. “I fished all three rods on Ronnie rigs – two on pink Northern Special+ pop-ups and one on a white one. The fish came to both tactics and I ended up with a great tally,” said Matthew.

Best of the bunch was this 40lb 15oz fish.
