CLUE’S IN THE NAME – ‘WINTER!’

-

IN THE past, Winter League finals would bear little or no relation to the league structure that had got the teams there in the first place.

Leagues were fished from October to Christmas, semis usually on the last couple of weeks of the season, then the final would either be in June or July, and even abroad.

Many of the top teams reckoned that the final should replicate the qualifying rounds. Now it does, and guess what? People are moaning!

This year, awful February weather took its toll but the team that got it more right on the day than the others won the Winter League in winter – just how it should be.
