BREAM FEEDER RIG

AS SOON as the water starts to warm up, bream on your local stillwater will start to feed, and a simple open-end feeder rig will be the way to catch them.

Use a fishmeal-based groundbait and add some casters and maybe a A NATURAL HOOKBAITS

At this time of year, bream are most likely to take natural baits such as worms and maggots. Two red maggots takes some beating, or a broken worm tipped with a maggot. B IN THE FEEDER

Mix your groundbait on the dry side so that it just holds inside the feeder until it lands on the lakebed. Add some casters and pellets.

C THE RIGHT FEEDER

In shallow water, a wire cage feeder will ensure your groundbait is released few pellets.

A worm and maggot cocktail takes some beating on the hook.

Don’t worry if you don’t catch instantly because it can take an hour or more for the fish to really get their heads down. from the feeder quickly enough. In deeper swims, go for a plastic version.

D QUICK-CHANGE LINK

It can pay to alter your feeder size during a session. If you stop getting bites, introduce a few large feederfuls of bait. Use a quick-change link to help you change in seconds.

E SIMPLE SET-UP

Use a hooklength of 2ft 6ins and tie a loop in the end of it. Attach this loop to a small loop tied into a larger, 4ins loop at the end of the mainline. The quickchang­e link goes inside the 4ins loop.
