Two grayling bests in a day on red maggots

A THREE-hour drive proved fruitful for Andy Lewis, who smashed his grayling personal best twice in a day with fish of 2lb 8oz and this 2lb 9oz specimen.

The Warwickshire-based angler targeted a southern chalk stream and trotted red maggots under a Drennan Loafer float to good effect.

He told Angling Times: “After already losing a good fish in the fast flow it wasn’t long before I struck into another.

“I immediately knew it was a good-sized grayling as it kited across the river.

“After a hard fight, which included some Olympic-style acrobatics, I was relieved to slip my net under a new pb of 2lb 9oz.”
