Feeder King is latest big-money event for match anglers
ONE of the country’s top bream waters is playing host to a new series of matches with an impressive £10,000 prize to the winner.
The Southfields Feeder King sees 10 qualifiers go through to the 30-peg final later in the year. Dave Walker, Pete Emmerson and Chris Martin have already booked their places, Pete winning last week with 24-0-0 of bream and skimmers off peg 55.
More evidence of the popularity of competitive feeder fishing came in the Preston Innovations FeederMasters qualifers at Barston Lake and Northern Ireland’s Lough Erne, which both sold out.
At Barston, England man Adam Wakelin won with 70-2-0 of carp from peg 49, with Chris Vandervleit and Mark Renshaw also qualifying.
Meanwhile, Milton Keynesbased Phil Bardell won on the lough with 13-580, and he’ll be joined by Tony Booth and Paul Sanderson in the £12,000 Bough Beech Reservoir final.
In other big-money events, Fish O’Mania saw two more anglers joining its July final, Richie Hull winning at Larford Lakes with 155-14-0 and Pete Black scoring at Tunnel Barn with 127-14-0.
There was also a midweek Maver Match This eliminator at Barston, where Trevor Wyse cruised home in comfortable fashion with 121-11-0.
Away from the qualifier and festival scene, it’s also been busy for canal anglers – 107 of them turned out on the Kennet & Avon for the latest Sensas M5 Angling round, topped by Tommy Boyce with a fine 26-3-0 of big skimmers from Church Reach. The bream sport was even better on the Aire & Calder Canal at Heck, a huge shoal of fish producing a 95-11-0 winner for Ian Fieldhouse on the feeder.
Finally, former England boss Mark Addy turned on the class to just nick the win in the Fred Moss Memorial on the LeedsLiverpool at Maghull.
His 5-11-0 of roach, perch, skimmers and a tench put him an ounce in front of Mike Davies.
